Urticaria is often caused by food allergies. If you frequently experience a hives outbreak after eating a certain food, it is a good idea to avoid it. However, if your hives are triggered seemingly by anything, this is often a sign that you need to resolve a deeper issue. Most people experience hives very rarely and only due to a food allergy. If your hives do not disappear on their own quickly, you need to treat the cause. Hypersensitivity is the most common cause of hives, as explained on this site. Fortunately, it can also be easily corrected, regardless of what caused it in the first place! Once that is done, the symptoms of hives will immediately start subsiding.
